Here follows a kind of visual documentation of my trip across America. Sit back, enjoy the pictures and posts. I'm new at this kind of thing, so please, share the journey, be kind in your comments, and hopefully I'll improve the all around quality of the site as I go. For parties interested in contributing to The Great American Cheeseburger Fund, please see earliest post. I thank everyone again for their insight and help along the way.... Hensley Settlement
A map of the layout of Hensley settlement as it stands today. They were two families that wanted to homestead away from it all in the early 1900's, and picked this remote spot to build a homestead, farms, a school, etc, and set a moonshine business as well. Quite admirable, all the clear-cutting, hauling of tools and equipment, the creation of what they couldn't buy or carry up the mountain, just to live the way they wanted. For an interesting video of the settlement, search KET Kentucky Life, Video 519, click Hensley Settlement, and you'll get a short video of the area...

I planed to hike to hensley settlement today, but the rain this morning was just too much. I will do it on new years day,I hike to hensley ever year on my birthday Dec.23 .The ridge trail all 22 miles of it is abeautiful hike any time of the year, but I like to hike it in the wintertime best.
