My Tribute To U-Haul

I met a fellow on the AT given the trail name U-Haul. This guy was incredible. Whenever i start to complain and belly ache about the weight I'm carrying, I just think back to him for inspiration....This guy was hauling at least 100 lbs of gear, and absolutely NONE of it was the newfangled ultralight stuff of tomorrow. He had all weather sleeping bag, no synthetics, no plastics, not even a pack with internal or external frame, nothin but stuff to hold everything he needed and the drive to accomplish a feat no matter what it took, and didn't give a rat's behind what anyone told him about what they considered to be his errant hiking ways. I'm a little sad I didnt get any pictures of him to post, but those of you on the AT thru hiking, or just doing section hikes, if you meet him, do yourself the honour of shaking an admirable man's hand. My new mantra : WWUD? U-Haul, if you should read this, good luck on your journey and all my best to you- I know you will succeed. If only a portion of us had the integrity and drive you possess, the world would be a better place. I hope we meet again someday soon, and if we do,drinks are on me...
