The View Along the Way....

After Damascus, decided to head out, taking westerly direction. The plan was to leave out late at night (about 4 A.M.), but was feeling really lethargic when i woke, and just had a feeling I should probably wait. This was a good idea for 2 reasons; 1. got to see a spectacular lightning show, followed by a horrific storm, and 2. turned out the storm I saw in the distance was the worst storm Abingdon has seen in some 5-odd decades. Tornadoes, heavy rains, most areas without power for no less than a week, houses and barns demolished, and many lives lost. Just missed what could have been an abrupt end to the trip and my life by a matter of hours....We are all sorry for your loss, here's to a speedy recovery.
Trail Days festival still almost 2 weeks away, sad to miss it, supposedly thousands of hikers from around the world show up for it, but not enough funds to stay put for that long. Just happy to make it out alive....
